About
App Paths is a program I wrote to manage Run dialog shortcuts easily.

Features

Compatibility
NT/2K/XP compatible, untested on 9x

Installation
Unzip and run. :) To uninstall, simply delete the folder containing the program.

Operation

First run
If you have many shortcuts, the program might take some time to load since it has to verify the existence of each linked file on the file system.
A progress bar provides a visual indication of this process. Subsequent refreshes of the list ought to be quicker to load.

All of the program commands can be accessed via a popup menu or by keyboard shortcuts. To show the menu, simply right-click anywhere in the list.
Each command is explained in more detail below.

Editing shortcuts
To edit an existing entry, simply double-click it to show the edit dialog. If you prefer the keyboard, you can press the F2 key whilst the item is highlighted, and use the up/down arrow keys to navigate the list. Alternatively, select "Edit" from the popup menu.

Creating shortcuts
To create a new entry, select "Add" from the popup menu or press Ctrl+A to show the add dialog.

The edit/add dialog

screenshot

The edit/add dialog contains two fields and three buttons. The first field labelled "Shortcut name" contains the text you type into the run box to launch the file. The field below it labelled "Path" contains the path to the file and any command line parameters. To the right of the second field is a button labelled "..." which launches the Windows file selector. (By default, the file selector will begin in the folder of the file specified in the "Path" field. If the Path field is blank, the file selector will begin in the %ProgramFiles% directory.) To make alterations, simply type into the fields and press the "OK" button to save the changes. To cancel and dismiss the window, click on the "Cancel" button or press the Escape key.

Deleting shortcuts
To delete a shortcut, select "Delete" from the popup menu, or press the Delete key whilst a shortcut is highlighted. A prompt will appear asking for delete confirmation. The delete command also works with multiple shortcuts. To select multiple shortcuts, hold down the Ctrl key and left click on each entry to highlight.

Broken shortcuts
The number of broken shortcuts are displayed in the statusbar below the list. To make managing broken shortcuts easier, simply clicking on the statusbar will highlight broken shortcuts.

Refreshing the list
The list automatically refreshes after a shortcut has been added, edited or deleted.
To refresh the list manually, press Ctrl+R, or the F5 key, or select "Refresh" from the popup menu.
